The Medical School of the University of Athens is the leading public institution in medical research in Greece. The Department of Hygiene and Epidemiology, in particular, has extensive experience in organizing and executing programmes of epidemiology, preventive medicine, health promotion and health education. It also implements training of health professionals on research methodology and statistical analysis. Furthermore, the Department produces books and other printed material regarding issues of preventive medicine and medical research. Professionals and leading experts from many European Member States have an immediate involvement in large part of these activities.
